119302-91-9 Usage

A new aminosteroidal neuromuscular blocking agent, rocuronium bromide, has been introduced into clinical practice. Rocuronium bromide (RB)  is a short-acting nondepolarizing steroidal neuromuscular blocker introduced in the U.S.Rocuronium bromide, together with pancuronium, vecuronium, atracurium, and pipecuronium are current commonly used several kinds of clinically non-depolarizing muscle relaxants with Rocuronium bromide having the fastest onset which can provide the ideal conditions of muscle relaxant within 60~90 s. Rocuronium bromide is a neuromuscular blocker in widespread use in anaesthesia, emergency and intensive care.  It has a short duration of action, therefore, is useful for rapid sequence intubation without unacceptable delays in the spontaneous recovery of neuromuscular function. The HPLC purity of the obtained rocuronium bromide can achieve up to 99% or more.

Definition

ChEBI: The organic bromide salt of a 5alpha androstane compound having 3alpha-hydroxy-, 17beta-acetoxy-, 2beta-morpholino- and 16beta-N-allyllyrrolidinium subs ituents.

Brand name

Zemuron (Organon).

Drug interactions

Potentially hazardous interactions with other drugs Anaesthetics: enhanced muscle relaxant effect. Anti-arrhythmics: procainamide enhances muscle relaxant effect. Rocuronium is metabolised by the liver to a less active metabolite, 17-desacetylrocuronium which is reported to have weak neuromuscular blocking effect.

Rocuronium bromide suppresses esophageal cancer via blocking the secretion of C–X–C motif chemokine ligand 12 from cancer associated fibroblasts

Journal of Translational Medicine volume 21, Article number: 248 (2023)

Rocuronium bromide (RB) is reported to exert certain inhibitory effect on tumor. Here, we investigate the role of RB in esophageal cancer (EC) malignant progression. Our data suggest that RB could repress PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway and autophagy to block the CXCL12 expression in CAFs, thereby weakening the CXCL12-mediated EC tumor progression.
